Save the Park on N Mississippi
Our community is not Chris Rogers’ ATM!
Developer Chris Rogers (Phase II Development, Lake Oswego) wants to purchase & develop the lot between Shaver & Mason (by Mississippi Ballroom), a privately- owned but well-used community park. He wants a four-story mixed-use complex, with retail and 48 apartment units (singles & small studios) *starting at* $825/month.
GREEN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD—NOT CHRIS ROGERS’ POCKETS
- Rogers is the third wealthy developer in 10 years trying to replace this well-used green space with more unaffordable housing (compare with the many newly-built rental condos on the same street)
- Anxious to avoid the public review process that killed past proposals, Rogers plans to bypass community approval & design review, using the Albina Plan’s lax regulations, which serve gentrification & urban removal
- Rogers vaguely suggests his project will be “green,” but this building would block all solar access to a living example of dense/low-impact housing to the North—a 501(c)3 housing coop, serving 11 low-income people (children & adults), who garden, bike, & share a 108 year old house.
- What is this neighborhood lacking? Bars, boutiques, & over-priced condos/apartments? Or green public space, neighborhood self-determination, and real community?

Mississippi) and check back for updates ** Call / Email Chris Rogers: 503-638-0628 // chris@phasetwodev.com Let him know that this project isn’t worth his time or money—that he will be better off pulling out now than facing community opposition, bad publicity, & code review Our neighborhood's history of resistance must continue. If we act together, we can stop this project, work to increase livability, and build community strength at the same time.
